Born and raised in Detroit, MI, I’ve spent the past 31 years enjoying every moment it has to offer. Throughout my K-12 educational experience, my goal was to get out of my house and go on to College, where I felt I’d finally get that opportunity to grow and become a better version of myself. Sure enough, in 2003, I left my then home of Southfield and headed toward East Lansing, where I began my collegiate experience at none other than Big Ten university – Michigan State. GO GREEN!!!
At MSU, I spent six years accumulating two Bachelor’s of Arts – one in Journalism and the other in Spanish, while also becoming certified in Secondary Education. Not only did I succeed academically, I also spent time being active in and around campus. I spent four of those years as a Resident Mentor in the dorms – creating programs within the dorm and around the campus, as well as facilitating group training sessions and helping other scholars grow to their potential. During that time, I participated in creating social events with the University Activities Board, participated in diverse programs on campus such as the V-Day Program and the Unity Project; And actively participated in meetings and discussions with both the North Campus Black Caucus, Women’s Council and Respecting Individuals on Neutral Grounds.
To top off all of these activities, I also worked part-time in retail – first at Old Navy and later at Best Buy, which allowed me to realize my passion and knowledge of technology, especially Apple products. I have spent the past 5 years teaching in Detroit at two different charter schools. While currently I work at Old Redford Academy Preparatory High School, I also teach workshops and specialize in Apple products at one of the local Apple stores.
I am also currently enrolled at Michigan State University working on my Master’s of Arts in Educational Technology. Once in awhile, you can catch me watching some television, listening to music or editing and creating movies or photo illustrations. I enjoy traveling, and have studied abroad in Quito, Ecuador and spent two weeks traveling through Israel. San Francisco is my favorite city and I hope to one day be able to call my self a San Franciscan.
My motto – Love the life you live and live the life you love!
